Drone Team

Drone Team – The Springfield Township Fire Department utilizes Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) technology when aerial reconnaissance is needed for the safety of our crews and/or the public. Our drone team consists of 14 members, 5 of which are FAA part 107 certified. We currently operate two aircraft – DJI Matrice 200 v.2 and DJI Mavic Enterprise Dual. These aircraft give us the capability of aerial reconnaissance/overwatch of emergency scenes and the use of thermal imaging. They can be used in various situations, including structure fires, search and rescue, wildfires, hazardous materials incidents, motor vehicle/train/aircraft emergencies, fire safety inspections, and more.
