About the Role:

The Springfield Township Fire & Rescue Department is seeking courageous, dedicated, and service-oriented individuals to join our team as Part-time Firefighters. Our firefighters protect lives and property through fire suppression, emergency medical response, and rescue operations, as well as community education and fire prevention efforts. Our department holds an ISO Class 2 rating, placing us in the top 3% nationwide.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond promptly to fire alarms, medical emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, and other emergency calls.

  • Operate firefighting and rescue equipment such as hoses, ladders, extinguishers, and power tools.

  • Provide emergency medical care and first aid as needed.

  • Participate in fire prevention inspections and public education programs.

  • Maintain physical fitness and participate in training exercises and professional development programs.

  • Complete detailed incident reports and documentation accurately and timely.

  • Maintain fire stations, vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working condition.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED (required)

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

  • State-certified Firefighter I/II (or equivalent) preferred

  • EMT-Basic or higher certification (required; Paramedic preferred)

  • Valid Firefighter Mile Certificate

  • Ability to pass medical examination

  • No felony convictions; must pass background check and drug screening
